The Bramble colony lives on a sprawling rural property, with large numbers of feral cats living in sub-colonies throughout the property. We began a Trap Neuter Return (TNR) effort in January, 2023. We will face extraordinary challenges with this colony, due to ringworm, high risk of Neonatal Isoerythrolysis and more. We expect this to be our most expensive project yet, due to the number of cats, amount of food, medical challenges, longer waits for TNR appointments, and increasing veterinary + lab costs. They are currently being fed 30 pounds of food every day. We are super grateful to the Bramble cats' property owners for their compassion, and for being wonderful to work with.
We are delighted to be working with the Archaeology department at Simon Fraser University to conduct a study using stable isotope analysis on fur samples collected from this colony's cats. The question we are hoping to answer is whether regular feeding of feral cats reduces predation on wildlife.
