Description:
Colby's mama (Chloe) was pregnant when we trapped her from a large feral cat colony. The cats in the colony are all exposed to calicivirus, and kittens born in our care have less severe symptoms when we vaccinate moms (FVRCP killed) prior to giving birth, and vaccinate kittens (FVRCP killed) between 4-5 weeks old, then with FVRCP modified live around 8 weeks.

Colby had mild Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) symptoms consisting of minor eye and nose discharge. Colby did well with his neuter surgery.

We believe some of the cats in/from this colony can be prone to viral gingivitis, periodontal disease and stomatitis if they do not receive responsible dental care throughout their lives.

Chloe was diagnosed with renal disease, pancreatitis and periodontal disease, and also tested positive (IgM titer 1:64, IgG titer negative) for Toxoplasma gondii. She tested negative for FeLV/FIV on June 26, 2018. She has responded very well to dental surgery and treatment. Our vets consulted with an internal medicine specialist and a pathology specialist who concurred the risk of kittens being infected by T. gondii was too low to warrant treatment or testing.
