Description:
Meredith Mae was left behind on a rural property when her humans moved.
Thankfully, her wonderful neighbor realized what had happened, and reached out to us for help. Meredith is very old, and was in very poor condition, emaciated and clearly in pain.
We discovered Meredith Mae has advanced cancer, which has spread throughout her body. It is sadly too late to treat the cancer, but it is not too late to ensure she gets to experience love and comfort in her final days.
We moved her into our comfiest, most home-like room, where she has many windows looking out into the treetops where birds and squirrels frolic. She is having multiple, extended snuggler visits throughout each day, and the HQ team has moved the computer into the room so we can do our emailing and administrative work next to her on the sofa....
We THOUGHT she had days, not weeks or months, but she seems to be rallying! We are now hoping to find a sunset foster/adopter for her, so she can really experience life the way she always deserved!
We take pain management and quality of life very seriously, and use the Pawspice & Animal Oncology Consultation Service Quality of Life scale developed by Dr. Alice Villalobos to constantly evaluate quality of life so we can ensure each of Meredith Mae's sunset days is still worth living. While we can't go back and give her the life she deserved, we can at least give her the comfort and dignity she deserves now, for as many days as she has left.
